To implement the complex, multi-year project named NMG One, The Neiman Marcus Group called upon InterTrade to manage the conversion of business documents traded with thousands of suppliers to a new EDI format. This required the data mapping and testing of documents from each vendor to ensure that all data would seamlessly integrate into their new system.

The Neiman Marcus Group’s new merchandising and planning system aims at delivering a consistent view of inventory across all Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Last Call properties. Improved inventory management will enhance regular price selling and decrease markdowns. Most importantly is the ability to provide customers with better product availability and a more consistent shopping experience across all channels.

‘’Besides the technical task of converting all of our vendors to EDI 5010 maps for transactions such as Purchase Orders, Invoices, and ASN’s, InterTrade led daily meetings to ensure project deadlines were respected and that we would react quickly to any potential issue’’ expressed Macey of InterTrade collaboration.

When the new system went live in August 2016, the Neiman Marcus EDI team was very well prepared and EDI transmission issues were mitigated and virtually non-existent.

In addition to the conversion of EDI documents, InterTrade put in place the proactive validation of ASN’s. Any ASN containing incorrect data or standards is identified and sent back to the vendor for correction and resubmission before entering NMG’s system. This is a significant benefit to Neiman Marcus as it ensures the accuracy of the information that gets integrated into their ERP. This proactive alert is also a benefit to vendors. The validation of invoices will be implemented in 2017.

When asked about the people she worked with at InterTrade, Macey confidently stated: ‘’They are great people - very responsive and hands on. They don’t just speak EDI – they make sure to explain in layman’s terms so everyone is clear about each phase of the project. Their Implementation team is very patient, helpful and provides excellent customer service’’.
